Haribo
Haribo is a confectionery production company, selling sweets to both children and adults, and is now the largest manufacturer of gummy and jelly sweets in the world.
Management system
Haribo UK approached Antika to update and improve its system that manages the Haribo Fan Club and the Retail Fan Club. This system was based on Microsoft Access and didn’t provide enough flexibility and control.
Antika scoped out the project following a close analysis of the workflow and processes, and developed a new management system that allowed Haribo to manage mailing lists, an e-newsletter, payments, letters and reporting functionality.
E-commerce
Haribo had a further requirement to develop the way their fans could join the Fan Club and take payments. Antika closely followed a specific brief to build an e-commerce facility within the management system. The new e-commerce system enabled new members to pay and join online, as well as existing members wishing to renew their membership.
Success
Haribo are now able to quickly and efficiently manage all online aspects of the Haribo Fan Club and the Retail Fan Club through the new management system built by Antika. It is saving them time, by having the processes synchronized and in one place, and it provides a valuable reporting tool to keep on top of the frequently changing information.

Art Exhibition at The Loft Theatre
Antika’s creative director, Vicki Walkden, is exhibiting her new paintings and prints at The Loft Theatre, Leamington Spa, 25 March – 4 April.
Vicki, like a lot of creatives, seems unable to just kick back at weekends, and thus spends her spare time painting, generally dabbling and always creating. Her inspiration is predominantly taken from landscapes and nature. She plays with colour and form to create a sense of space and tranquility; and, by working with a range of different mediums including acrylic, watercolour and digital art, Vicki maintains an experimental approach.
Exploring colour is a particular focus for Vicki, who descibes herself as a colourist painter/artist. By combining beautiful colours taken from everyday scenes and objects, she aims to emanate calm and beauty.

Wrong end of the stick
Sometimes you come across some really understated gems on television. And Victorian Farm is one of those. What a fascinating series about real people living as closely to victorian ways as possible. Useful tips such as cleaning windows with newspaper, and how to make a natural lip balm were somewhat interesting. But what really got my attention was the episode when they had some posters printed in a ’traditional’ victorian printers, where they explained how ’upper’ and ’lower’ case came about. Printers had ’cases’ that held all the metal letters known as type, and simply put, the upper case characters sat in the upper part of the case and the lower ones in the lower part of the case. As a graphic designer I was fascinated to discover this. Furthermore, there was a stick which held the metal letters to form a line of text, and this had to be held the right way round in order to place the letters correctly. If not held correctly, the letters would come out in reverse order - thus ’getting the wrong end of the stick’.Vicki

Did you know?
The original name of Facebook was TheFaceBook? It was developed by Mark Zuckerberg, a student at Harvard. It was limited to Harvard students at first, but has now become one of the 4th most popular websites, overtaking the BBC’s network of sites. Also, Facebook was the second most-visited website in the UK after Google.co.uk, and it has over 150 million active users worldwide. Furthermore, the saying "to poke" on Facebook has made it into the 2008 edition of the Collins English Dictionary.
And another fascinating fact is that we’re on Facebook, check it out by clicking here.
